Let Us change Our world, Now

8> Let us change our World, Now   ( Complete Make Life Better Site w/ better design )

(:          Through the Internet we now have the unique opportunity
to change our world in a way that we’ve never had before.  We can come together to do things which were previously not possible, and to eliminate “World suck”(to use a phrase from John&Hank Green of Vlogbrothers).  We can lead ourselves in ways governments and politicians have thus far shown themselves to be unable.  J

            Why Now?

(:          Now is as good a time as any to greatly improve the world which we live in and we now have the unique ability to do so.  I think it’s quite self-evident that the internet has already given power to great change agents and actors in society.  The Arab Spring, regardless of your thoughts on it, is evidence of this.  The internet doesn’t just give power to governmental change.  If you look at crowd-funding sites like Kickstarter then you'll see that here the internet gives great power to the ability of people to paint their dreams into existence (Look at these incredible stats from Kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/help/stats?ref=footer) J

(:          Governments represented something significant prior to the Internet.  It represented the ability of people to come together to solve problems in their society.  It enabled the existence of a single entity in one geographic location to have a monopoly on violence, so that violence wasn’t widespread. J

(:          Yet governments have a vast array of flaws.  The process is often corrupted by special-interests (those with a large financial stake in the outcome) and everyone has their hands out trying to get whatever they can from the public trough.  The methods of enactment are often through violence or hard-power ( I’vediscussed all of this more at length in the post “Liberation Politics ) J

(:          Yet, don’t all entities have flaws?  Yes, but the Internet presents methods of accountability which can be seen through rating systems and dispute resolution systems on sites like Ebay, Amazon, etc.  J

(:          We have the power to do.  I have previously discussed how we can achieve far greater things than we ever thought that we could before.  In “Don’t think, just do” I discussed how we have an ability to do things which we never imagined that we could by just acting instead of trying to develop a method for action and then acting.  J

(:          I’m a fairly spiritual person (had a spiritual awakening a few weeks ago) and I’m most akin to the Bahai’ faith (http://www.bahai.us/welcome/spiritual-concepts/) which recognizes that religions the world over have a multitude of similar values.  I perceive the fundamental values as being an appreciation of the force which created our universe and being in appreciation of the beauty which surrounds us and loving our brother and sisters in humankind.  J

(:          Religions contain prophecy of a time when Earth will be like Heaven.  That one day we will live in peace and harmony and that one day hunger will no longer be an issue and that shelter may be found by all.  That no one will any longer live in want.  J

(:          Now if you’re not spiritual/religious I understand, I was with you up until a few weeks ago.  Yet even non-religious people mostly desire peace and harmony to be upon us and for us all to no longer live in want (in need to sustenance) J

(:          So, let’s make that happen as quick as possible.  If we all believe that we should live in peace & harmony and if we all believe that nobody should live in want & as we now have the power to bring this about by coming together by the millions, and further by the billions to change our world then lets change it. J

(:          Let’s change it now!
May you always live in love of everything and everyone around you
&
May you always live in Joy of every moment you experience
&
May you always feel peace upon you and act peacefully towards others always

Sadness /Anger is temporary, Satisfaction/Joy can be our default

8> Sadness /Anger is temporary, Satisfaction/Joy can be our default       Twitter: @PeaceEmpowers

(:             This is going to attempt to prove that being in the mental state of sadness or anger can be very short-lived and that being in the mental state of satisfaction and joy can be our default state.  We can quickly solve our sadness(I know that based on psychological disorders this can be far more challenging for some people than others) or anger and we can then move towards a feeling of being content/satisfied or joyous whenever we desire. J

(:             There are a few main components to this argument.  One, we can control our moods by deciding the psychological lens through which we view everything around us (also ourselves).  We can choose a positive or negative lens.  Two, we can understand that we eventually will get over whatever the cause is of our sadness or anger and construct ways to alleviate this tension in our minds(that may include physical action but it may also only include psychological action).  Three, once we are viewing things through a positive lens and have removed the force of tension then we may clear our minds and focus on the beauty of everything around us. J

(:             We can control our moods by deciding to view ourselves and our surroundings through a positive lens.  When it is raining one can decide to focus on the vitality which the rain acts to restore to us and our planet.  On the surface this may sound simplistic.  Yet I have been able to do this for nearly every circumstance.  One could argue that this is a subjective argument.  I’d agree.  But an argument against this would also be an argument based on a subjective framework.  It would be to say that some can’t shift their views the same way I have found that I can.  Yet, how do you know what someone can do with their mind?  The Placebo affect represents this very ability!   J

(:             Everything which currently upsets you will not upset you at some point in the future.  As one of my elementary school teachers used to say  “It’ll get better before you get married”.  Of course, to a child this idea seems absurd, “Don’t you know that’s like FOREVER from now for me!?” a child would think.  Yes as we age we understand time differently, that it is flowing quickly.  The more years we have experienced the shorter one year feels to us.  J

(:             When you know that what is currently upsetting you will end then you can decide to find the fastest ways to resolve the conflict.  The conflict will be solved in your mind.  If the conflict is due to a heated argument then find ways to make it unheated.  Focus on a few deep breaths and on something beautiful in your sorrounds, smile, understand you are arguing over identity questions (discussed in intro to series) and not over values(Humankinds differences are over identity questions not values).  J

(:             Once the tension is removed and you have established a positive outlook then you may focus on the beauty around you.  Focus on your breath and when your focus shifts then acknowledge that your focus shifted and refocus on your breath (Buddhist meditation practice taught to me by Dr. Finegan of IUP).  This can be done at nearly any moment.  Now, focus on something around you that is beautiful.  Can’t think of anything beautiful around you?  Then look at yourself &  “if you can’t see anything beautiful about yourself, get a better mirror. Look a little closer, just stare a little longer, because there’s something inside you that made you keep going despite everyone who told you to quit. You built a cast around your broken heart and you signed it yourself, you signed it ‘They were wrong.’ something inside you that made you keep going despite everyone who told you to quit. You built a cast around your broken heart and you signed it yourself, you signed it ‘They were wrong.’ –Shane Koyczan(To This Day, Spoken Word) J

(:             This post existed to provide the reader with my argument that sadness and anger can be extremely short states of mind and that they can make their own default state of mind to be one of satisfaction and joy.  I welcome any questions/comments or critiques.

J

Live in love of the world around you, with a joyous state of mind at all times, and may we always feel peace and act on behalf of peace,
